Moi University Launches Academic Calendar

Moi University launched its academic calendar for the period 2015-2018 yesterday. The event which kicked off at 8.30am at the Main administration block entrance was graced by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Richard Mibey, Members of the university council, Government representative from state corporation department, Deans of schools, Directors of Satellite campuses, members of staff, students and the public. Chairman of Moi University Council Prof. Jenesio Kinyamario led the university community in officially launching the Calendar.
Prof. Kinyamario urged the University Management, academic staff and the entire University fraternity to work as a team, share information, and embrace the participatory spirit in order to create a favorable learning environment. He also addressed the various challenges the university is going through. These included the large student population that has seen challenge of accommodation and lecture halls.
He however assured students that the university is in the process of putting up more hostels, laboratories and lecture rooms. He congratulated the new School of Agriculture and Natural Resources for the way they have picked up being the newest school of the University. He also reiterated the university's commitment to establish more courses and schools that will meet the current demand in the job market.
During his speech, Prof. Mibey said that the university will continue to strive to build on its motto of being a foundation of knowledge. "We are committed to quality work and learning environment that is grounded in intellectual and academic freedom, teamwork, quest for excellence, professionalism, discipline and continual improvement of its products for customer satisfaction" he added. He also urged both the management, staff, students and the larger Moi University community to work as a team.
The Academic calendar describes the range of courses offered by the University in different Schools, both at the undergraduate and post graduate levels. The information in this calendar is elaborate and up to date. The University has been using an old university Academic calendar launched in 1997. The 2015-2018 Academic calendar is the third one since the inception of the university in 1984. The first one was launched in 1988.
